Programs at the Wize Computing Academy follow K–12 Computer Science Standards and are designed to meaningfully extend STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) learning and expanding a child’s mind through the development of critical thinking, logic and reasoning skills. We prepare your students to be the innovators, educators, leaders and learners of the 21st century!

Programming for Beginners – Grades 1-3

Start your campers down an exciting path of learning with the building blocks of Computer Programming. Students will create their own animations, stories and digital games using characters they love. Introducing MIT Scratch! A powerful programming language that, once learned, allows kids to build on their coding skills for years to come. In our project-based learning curriculum, students are taught the basic tools, all while having loads of fun!

Creating Mods in Minecraft – Grades 4-8

Come learn how to imagine, create and share amazing mods in Minecraft by learning programming concepts and applying them to manipulate every aspect of the Minecraft world! See your mod in action in Minecraft server or fine-tune it in a simulator. After coding your mods, step into our Realm and create with other campers. Students must have Minecraft Java Edition Account (not iPad/Xbox/Playstation) and join us on a computer with Minecraft Java Edition (PC/MAC) installed.

Programming in Python – Grades 4-8

Students will learn coding concepts using the most popular programming language, Python. In this advanced beginner camp, students learn Python by making fun games and drawings and animations. It will be helpful if campers have experience with basic coding concepts (i.e. MIT Scratch), but no previous python experience is required.

Creating Mods in Minecraft – Grades 1-3

Come learn how to imagine, create and share amazing mods in Minecraft by learning programming concepts and applying them to manipulate every aspect of the Minecraft world! See your mod in action in Minecraft server or fine-tune it in a simulator. After coding your mods, step into our Realm and create with other campers. Build-Your-Own Digital Games – Grades 1-3

This is one of our most popular courses. Our young learners get to build their own digital games using a popular computer software language called MIT Scratch. They will design their own chase games, side-scrolling, racing or other styles… set up high scores and let their friends try and beat them. The course will have various students of all levels of skills, from those new to Scratch to learners who are more advanced. We will design projects and coursework to match the skills of our students individually.

3D Modeling, Printing & Design – Grades 4-8

One of our most fun S.T.E.M. experience camps! In this engineering design course, students will learn about 3D printers, including how they work, their use and the software required to bring their designs to life. However, a majority of the classes are about design, utilizing a 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) program and taking increasingly more challenging 3D design projects and bringing them to life through the printer. Students love this class since they are able to create very tangible results that we can print for them.

Intro to Scratch Programming- Grades 4-8

Start your students down an exciting path of learning with the building blocks of Computer Programming. Micro:Bit Programming – Grades 1-3

In this introductory series, campers learn basic programming concepts and introductory robotics through the use of a BBC Microbit (A pocket sized computer). These small devices pack a powerful punch of fun, and your campers will learn how to control various capabilities (LEDs, Sounds, accelerometer, controller buttons, etc). Students will need to purchase a Micro:Bit for use at home (~$25), but our camp will program these using an online coding platform.

Build-Your-Own Digital Games – Grades 4-8

This is one of our most popular courses. Our young learners get to build their own digital games using a popular computer software language called MIT Scratch. Coding in Virtual and Augmented Reality – Grades 4-8

Step into Virtual Reality! We will be using CoSpaces to create Augmented and Virtual Reality interactive content while coding. We will explore the creation of virtual tours, storytelling, games and simulations. This class opens up a whole new view to the world of Virtual Reality. Limitless possibilities.

Website Development (HTML Programming) – Grades 4-8

Ready to make your mark on the web? Learn the tools that pros use – HTML5, JavaScript & CSS3, and design your own website. The websites are themed and uniquely built based on the area of interest of the camper – hobbies, business idea, social impact. Students get to own the site and continue building on it even after the class!!

LEGO EV3 Programming – First LEGO League Intro – Grades 4-8

In this course, students learn many engineering and coding concepts while building and programming a functional robot using Lego EV3 Mindstorm kit. Online, students spend most time programming, but their programs are implemented in the class with a live robot. This camp is designed to prepare campers for First Lego League and other competitions, which typically kickoff in the Fall.
